About PlayBT and its founders

How we got started
Paulo Santos if from Rio de Janeiro- Brazil and has been a tennis (hard court) coach since he was 16 years old and started teaching beach tennis in 2010, when he helped to establish maybe the largest Beach Tennis school in Brazil called Clube Praia, and after 3 years he felt ready to lead his own students, so he decided to break off on his own.

With the help of his partner Krishna, in February of 2015 he set up his own location and founded his own beach tennis school, PlayBT- Rio de Janeiro.  PlayBT-Rio was located on Ipanema Beach more or less between the Streets Rua Teixeira de Melo and Rua Farme de Amoedo. This was PlayBT’s first flyer:

He brings the voice of experience and expertise of many years of coaching to the table.

Krishna started her adult life as a civil engineer and must have gone crazy in 2015 when she decided to leave a successful career as a commercial manager for a multinational engineering company to move back to California and start a beach tennis school.

So we are now two Brazilians lost in Los Angeles spreading the love of Beach Tennis 🙂

Beach Tennis is the fastest growing sport in the world, and is taking over coastlines and sports clubs in every country.

Started in Italy in the early 70’s, this sport is contagious and the top athletes, trainers and fans of this sport have taken this to a new level, being coined “the X-games of tennis”.
We love it, Paulo has been teaching beach tennis since the year 2010, the first 5 of which were in Brazil, which has now earned the rank of 2nd mecca of beach tennis in the world.

In 2015 we moved to Los Angeles and started our Beach Tennis School in Manhattan Beach and have never turned back.
Beach Tennis is everything the “California Culture” represents and it has fitted in perfectly with the local lifestyle.
Come join the fun!

Our objective

Arising from the desire of PlayBT’s founders to offer an alternative for people to improve their quality of life, live a healthy lifestyle and promote social interaction PlayBT Beach Tennis School offers instruction to improve the quality and level of play of our students.

Play BT follows a methodology developed throughout the past 30+ years by important schools in Italy, which is currently the reigning country for this sport.

PlayBT also has middle and high school programs to offer an alternative independent study for students as a physical activity in order for the sport to be continuously renovated with new players and to aid in the formation of future professionals in this sport.
